Titled - ‘Gone Fishing’
A fond memory of mine is going fishing with my Dad. There was no better feeling than being by the river bank or on the coastal shore, fishing. Camping and fishing were a huge part of my childhood. Id often go fishing with my Dad and Mum but would also go fishing with my pop. If you were anything like me you'd love to go fishing but would hate to touch the bait and would reel your rod in as soon as you'd feel the current tug your line a bit.
The blue plaster represents the river/stream. The dots surrounding the three u shapes (people) represent the footprints of our ancestors who passed down our knowledge of fishing and reading the land. I have been very fortunate to have such strong and powerful men in my life to pass down these traditions to me (still have a fear of touching the bait). I hope to pass down this knowledge and stories down to my little ones.
This piece represents not only fond memories but also connection to our ancestors, connection to country, love and also a friendly reminder to stay present in the moment.
