“Tender Growth”
CIS Artwork and logo design
This piece represents community, power for change, the journey of change as well as meeting place.
The circles travelling through the artwork represent the journey of those who advocate for change, specifically our First Nation leaders and activists. The u shapes within those circles symbolise community coming together for a yarn to discuss issues as well as to support one another.
The different elements incorporated in the artwork all represent something different. The brown and blue concentric circles represent the different communities eg. saltwater/freshwater mob and the red dirt/black soil mob.
The lines with dots inside them that separate each element symbolises the different projects/programs that the Centre of Independent Studies supports/guides. All lines are connected to represent the concept of working towards a common goal which is positive change.
The brown smaller dots represent old outdated policy where the other blue dots represent healing, updated research and change. All dots are acknowledged to represent the history of policy and to further symbolise that the printed word and permanency are important.
The white circles and squiggly lines represent the Centre of Independent Studies reaching out to the community and giving our First Nation people a voice and platform to be heard and be a part of policy making.
