1 piece Canvas
Diameter - 40cm
This piece represents our country’s water ways. not only does water represent life but it is also a symbol for healing. Traditionally, Aboriginal peoples used water from rivers for all their water needs - drinking, fishing, and washing. The water was also used to spend quality time together on the river and billabongs and is absolutely vital to the intergenerational knowledge and cultural transfer of knowledge. There are thousands of years of memories in these water places.
I have found that saltwater has been a form of healing for me. My name, Tarni means saltwater in Bundjalung language. I have always been drawn to the water and it is essentially apart of my identity.
Water is a valuable resource for all and something worth protecting, our ancestors managed our water ways for centuries. It is our responsibility to continue this practice.
The different coloured shapes represent the different types of waterways, ocean, rivers, billabongs ect. The dots inside the shapes represent the custodians of these waterways, taking care of them allowing them to sustain us.
