Blooms the Chemist Reconciliation Artwork

Blooms the Chemist Reconciliation Artwork

2023

This artwork represents life, strong community, health challenges, and Blooms The Chemist's commitment to caring for the community.

At the top left of the artwork, a heart embraced within a circle symbolises the heartbeat of life and the importance of a close-knit community. This powerful motif also serves as a reminder of the increased prevalence of Coronary Heart Disease within Aboriginal communities. It urges us to adopt healthy and safe lifestyles, promoting overall well-being through community support and care.

The Blooms The Chemist leaf logo is the salient image of the artwork symbolising the pharmacy's dedication to connecting with the community. The leaf, with its vibrant colours, represents growth, renewal, and the promise of a nurturing environment. It is a visual testament to Blooms The Chemist's commitment to delivering better care by actively engaging and supporting the community in their health journey.

In the bottom left hand corner the artwork honours the sacred journey of pregnancy and the significance of care during this transformative period. Symbols of motherhood, fertility, and community support intertwine with vibrant colours and patterns. This representation emphasises Blooms The Chemist's role in providing compassionate care and support to expectant mothers, nurturing the growth of new life and fostering a healthy future.

The bond between Aboriginal bush medicine and the wisdom of the old people is depicted through an array of traditional healing plants and remedies. These symbols represent the deep knowledge and spiritual connection Indigenous communities have with the land and its resources. Blooms The Chemist acknowledges and respects this legacy by integrating traditional wisdom and holistic practices into its modern healthcare services.

The middle Bora symbolises care, sensitivity, and ongoing support, particularly for our old people and elders. It represents Blooms The Chemist's commitment to providing tailored healthcare solutions that cater to the unique needs of the elderly, reflecting their cultural understanding and respect for the wisdom of the elders.

The bottom right Bora represents Blooms The Chemist's drive and dedication to reaching out to the community and building genuine relationships. It depicts the genuine and heartfelt efforts made by Blooms The Chemist to be an active and caring member of the community, fostering a sense of trust and mutual respect.

The top right Bora symbolises those whose lives have been affected by cancer, signifying the ongoing care and support Blooms The Chemist offers during challenging times. The circle embodies unity and resilience, reflecting the community's strength in supporting one another.

The Bora image of the hand on the right is a homage to hand cave paintings, symbolising the deep connection to Mother Earth and Country. It emphasises the importance of maintaining a harmonious relationship with the land and all living beings.

Above the circle symbols, the images represent Country and capture the essence of growth, echoing the sentiment that "from little things big things grow." The cycle of planting a seed and nurturing it to bloom into a flower mirrors the journey of health and wellness. The kangaroo tracks and fish signify elements of Country that contribute to bush medicine and Indigenous culture, reinforcing the interconnectedness of all aspects of life.

Finally, on the left side of the artwork, the dots gradually getting lighter as they move into the middle represent the concept of mental health. This symbolism underscores how mental well-being improves and the load lightens when individuals surround themselves with a supportive community and seek help. This aligns perfectly with the care and sensitivity that Blooms the Chemist offers, advocating for mental health support and holistic care.
